We got to give EJ credit where credit is due, so thankfully he didn't destroy the chip. But I wasn't sure what he was up to when the sent a memory chip to Belle.... had considered that maybe there was footage after EJ found the camera (that perhaps he had returned the camera), but nope, he just wanted everyone to see prior to the shooting, Chanelle threatening him. Especially now that the forensics report has confirmed that the gun used was definitely Romans. Of course, Johnny would be furious if he ever found out that EJ is the one who had the memory chip, and has now implecated Chanelle also as a suspect. But see, Johnny isn't a professional in law, but just very in love with Chanelle and protective of her (over himself/self-sacrificing). But what EJ did by showing Chanelle's threat doesn't prove that Johnny innocent, nor does is prove Chanelle's guilt, but it just helps establish reasonable doubt. But if Johnny only knew.... it stop their reunification, and another lawyer representing Johnny would be disadvantaged as EJ is right that since he's the victim, his defense and belief that his son is innocent, not to mention he's showing he's completely recovered... all these things will help Johnny's case, which another lawyer just wouldn't be able to offer at the same level. But to show that Chanelle also had motive and made threats just moments before the shooting will definitely cast reasonable doubt. EJ is wise to only send the footage implecating Chanelle, cause that footage of Johnny pointing the gun at him would condem him. There are other scenes from that day, that I'm sure EJ is carefully considering, with Belle and Kristin, I ithink even Paulina. At least EJ hasn't tried to manufacture evidence yet, but I wouldn't put it past him either.
ReplyDeleteYou know we are all worried when people on the inside get special treatment. That the Mayor will misuse her power to save her son-in-law. And we know when EJ was the Mayor, he definitely would misused his power to save his son. This is a REAL problem that we are dealing with now. How do we handle such cases? I love how Days addresses such issues to help people see the emotion involved in such cases.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, we also have to consider the reverse side.... when they are treated harsher simply for being somehow connected to powerful people.... simply for "the optics?" Is Chanelle and EJ right? Is Paulina right? Belle or Rafe? Chanelle and EJ think that everyone should turn a blind eye even if Johnny was guilty. It seems Paulina is harsher on Johnny than she would have been with others, simply cause she's worried about her appearance to the public. She doesn't want to be misjudged for letting Johnny off easy b/c of who he is, so she is gonna do it by the book so no one can accuse her of this. Of course we must always try for blind justice. You shouldn't be treated better or worse. But the public does hold you to a higher standard... of course it matters, class structure. But it's the price you pay to be in power. One must walk the line. They are always being watched & scrutinized whatever they do. So Paulina is right to just come right out to the public with the evidence (not hiding it even for a second). And Chanelle knows this. She's just heartbroken and emotionally lashing out. She needs somone to blame. Regardless of class, every single one of us would want to protect our loved ones. That's why Belle was recused. Paulina had to take swift action, especially cause it was Johnny. Some may think she was TOO HARSH. Even though Paulina called it optics, she knew what she meant.
People in power probably do get away with more cause it's human nature/ instinctive to want to protect those we love. It's simply easier to accuse someone you don't know when the evidence points at them. This obviously could make it unfair and morally wrong. Definitely not blind justice. So Paulina did good to not waiver like Rafe wanted. Of course this is just a soap and not real life, but Days shows us how it looks from the inside. How most of them are contemplating how to handle it (rather than doing it by the book). They are showing their human rather than machines. Some suggest they cover it up (EJ, Chanelle), others suggest they suppress the evidence (Rafe, Belle). Actually made me think of an article I read called Love over Law. And even though I said Paulina was right by following the Law, the Human factor in the others, especially EJ, shows so much Grace. And I am reminded of how much God loves me and shows me Grace. Johnny's loved ones trying to figure out what to do. Should be easy, follow the Law. But they Love him. The OT (the Law) didn't end, but the NT is Grace. I have fallen, condemned, but God's grace saved me. God is merciful, the holy spirit fills heart with mercy for love. It is so lovely to see them care for Johnny, in the heart, our superpower. Did you know the electromagnetic energy field in our hearts is 5,000 times greater than in our brains.

ReplyDeleteI feel when Johnny left after pointing the gun at EJ ,it has already been revealed that it was found in the bush outside the door! Some fans feel it was Rachel that shot EJ. I am just guessing but I feel it was EJ and Stephono loyal Assistant that just helped EJ with kidnapping Rafe and His sister Mother! Tony asked EJ how much he trust her and EJ said she has always been loyal to the family!
ReplyDeleteI think Kristin did it, and I think EJ knows this deep down (cause he's always accusing her). And I think Rachel seen her mom do it and has been too scared to say it outloud, but I have a feeling she will
